Reliable AI tool

This is my third year with Sider; I always go for the annual Sider Pro Plan. I started with it for the Web Page Summarizer and the AI Chatbot, and they've been consistently good. This time, I'm using the GPT-4o access a lot more, and it's just as reliable as it was last year. I've tried other tools like Monica AI, but I always come back to Sider because it just works without fuss. The integration with my browser is seamless, and I haven't had any issues with billing or service interruptions. It's predictable, and that's what I value most.

Solid features, minor hiccup

I signed up for the Sider Premium Plan to use the AI Chatbot and the Smart Context Menu. The overall shopping experience was fine; I found the annual plan discount helpful. The AI Chatbot is generally very useful for drafting emails and quick research. I particularly like the Smart Context Menu for summarizing selected text. The only minor negative was that the Edge Extension sometimes felt a bit slower to load than the Chrome version, though it always worked in the end. Delivery was instant, as expected for a subscription. Customer service wasn't needed, so that's a positive. Good value for what it offers, just hoping for a bit more speed on Edge.

Good for quick summaries

Got the Sider Pro Plan. Needed the YouTube Summarizer. It works. Saves time. Setup was fast. No problems with payment. It does what it says. Worth it for me.

Easy to use, works well

I just needed something to help with writing for school, so I got the Sider Premium Plan. The Writing Assistant is pretty handy, it catches a lot of my mistakes. I also use the YouTube Summarizer a lot for lectures, which is a lifesaver. It was super easy to get set up on my Mac. Everything just works, no complicated stuff. Happy with it.

Decent tool, some quirks

I purchased the Sider Premium Plan for a year, mainly for the GPT-4o access and the Deep Research Agent feature. Ordering was straightforward on their website, no issues there. Delivery, or rather activation, was instant, which was good. The AI Chatbot is quite responsive for quick questions, and the Web Page Summarizer works well most of the time, cutting down on reading. I found the Deep Research Agent a bit hit or miss; sometimes it pulled great info, other times it felt like just a rehash of search results. Usability with the Chrome Extension is pretty smooth; it integrates without being too intrusive. Customer support, I haven't really needed to use, so can't comment there. Overall, it's a solid tool for productivity, but not every feature is equally polished.

Is there a student discount for Sider? My university email address works for other software.

T Todd J. 2 months ago
I've seen some stuff about student discounts mentioned before, I think it's usually tied to specific programs or partnerships. Might be worth checking their site directly.

afaik they do have something for students, but it's not always a straight percentage off. Sometimes it's extra credits or a special plan.

How does Sider stack up against Perplexity? I use Perplexity a lot for research but the sidebar thing sounds useful.

C Colin 2 months ago
Sider is more about integrating with your current browsing. Perplexity is like a search engine first. Depends on what you need.

M Mia F. 2 months ago
I tried both. Sider feels more like a tool to augment what you're already doing on a page, summarizing and stuff. Perplexity is for deep dives into specific topics.

can you actually sum up youtube videos with this? would be a game changer for lectures.

A Alex Romero 1 month ago
Yes, it has a YouTube Summarizer feature. Works pretty well for getting the main points.

Are there ever actual coupon codes for Sider plans, like a percentage off? Or is it just those referral things?

J June 2 months ago
Usually, the best 'discount' is just buying the yearly plan, it's like 20-30% cheaper. I don't see promo codes very often for the base price.

Most of the time percentage discounts get applied automatically if you go for the annual subscription. For credit bonuses, those are usually from referral links.

Thinking of getting Sider but I mostly use Safari. Does it actually work well there or is it just for Chrome?

P Paula Beaumont 1 month ago
Yeah it's totally fine on Safari, I use it everyday for work. No issues.

They have a Safari extension, so you should be good. I've only used it on Edge myself but they support multiple browsers.

Does Sider actually use GPT-4o or is that just marketing? Some tools say they do but then it's an older model.

R Rosa Nguyen 1 month ago
Nah, it's legit. I've seen the options in the settings to switch between different models, including the newer ones.

D Dana 1 month ago
Yep, they've got GPT-4o, Claude 3.5, and even Gemini 1.5 Pro last I checked. You can pick which one you want for different tasks.
